A Win for the Charity and a Win for the Environment
Rainbow Hub’s Tree Recycling service raised over £11,000 to help support our children and young people with physical and neurological disabilities.
A team of volunteer collectors and vans saved families time and hassle by collecting over 600 trees from the areas surrounding Rainbow Hub including Ormskirk, Chorley, Horwich, Blackrod, Shevington, Hesketh Bank, Tarleton, Burscough, Croston, Longton, Leyland, Lostock Hall and Bamber Bridge for a donation to the charity.
After collection, the trees were put through chipping equipment and the chippings are sent to a local biomass factory to be used for renewable energy.
In addition to collections and chipping equipment, other supporters provided skips, tools, technical support, expert route planning and much appreciated refreshments. Volunteers of all ages gathered to help with the youngest only five years old.
Emma Parish, Corporate Relations and Event Manager, Rainbow Hub, said, “This is our fifth year organising the event and we are delighted to be able to offer a service to our local community whilst raising funds and helping the environment.
We are very grateful for a fantastic group of volunteers and the support of W Taylor & Sons, CGL Landscape Maintenance Contractors, Brysdales, Ventbrook Traffic Management Services, Jambo Property Services, Rayner Rowan Construction Ltd, Morgan Bros (Metalwork Solutions) Ltd, Jones Courier Services, Evans Halshaw Ford, The Tree Barn, JCR-Recycling, AP Broome Landscapes, Morrison Utilities Ltd. Allthread Tools & Fasteners Ltd, Network Rail, String Systems Ltd and House Digital …without their help it would not have been possible, and they kept up their smiles in spite of the weather.
Grateful thanks to Morrisons, Booths Country, Asda and Butcher Farrells Meat Emporium for the refreshments.
Finally, and very important – we thank everyone who donated to the charity and had their trees collected by us.
As we receive no statutory funding for our core services, every penny counts and helps us continue to provide. and expand our much-needed services. Raising over £11,000 is a fantastic start to 2023!”
