Our most popular community fundraising event – the annual Ramble started on Saturday 29th April when local celebrity and Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Steve Royle, cut the ribbon and hundreds crossed the line helping us to raise thousands of pounds. This fantastic event, supported by Fletchers Group, started and finished at Bishop Rawstorne High School, Croston and is on target to raise £12,000.
Around 200 people including children (plus dogs) chose the 5 or 11-mile walk, with a few energetic souls running the course. With everyone in a Rainbow Hub t shirt it was a colourful spectacle.
A huge thank you to qualified instructor, Joanne Berends-Sheriff, who helped participants warm up and to Connected Voices and DJ Jonathan Knowles for the fabulous entertainment.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and especially fourteen year old, Phoebe Fahey, daughter of our Rainbow Hub CEO. She wanted to challenge herself to raise funds for us and successfully completed 2.5 miles – a personal record as she has only walked 1 mile before. Phoebe raised £785. She received a huge cheer at the finish line, along with many other children supported by us who took part. One cycled the whole 5 miles on a trike, others took assisted steps and some enjoyed the experience as their family pushed them over the line in their wheelchairs to receive their medal. We are so proud of them all.
Lyndsay Fahey, Chief Executive, Rainbow Hub, said, “it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the day and we would like to thank them for joining us, together with all those too numerous to mention who give up their time to help us. But special thanks go to Fletchers Group – our main supporters – Ultrasec for sending a team to cover security, first aid, health & safety; Victoria J Photography and Steve Royle for giving up his time to start us all off.”
